homemade glue recipe

How many times have YOU bought an adhesive whose quality leaves much to be desired? It's a pity when glued surfaces come off at the wrong moment. It's also a shame that money and time have been wasted. Speaking of money - good glue is not cheap.

There is a wonderful recipe for homemade glue, which, in terms of reliability, will give odds to many branded brands. So, we need:

- linoleum;

- acetone;

- glass jar;

- a knife or scissors.

glue recipe

We separate the substrate from the linoleum - we do not need it. By the way, it is desirable to use linoleum that does not have a fabric base.

We cut linoleum into very thin strips. Then we cut each strip into small pieces - the smaller, the better.

We put the resulting pieces in a jar and fill it with acetone so that it covers the entire linoleum. Seal tightly with a lid (acetone can evaporate). For at least a day, linoleum will dissolve in acetone.

Shake the jar from time to time.

Scope and method of application of glue

The resulting mixture can be used to glue almost any material - rubber, metal, paper, wood, stone, ceramic tiles, etc. The method of application is the same as that of any factory glue - smeared, connected, pressed down, allowed to dry.

If necessary, add a filler to the glue, such as sawdust - and use it to putty joints on wooden surfaces, repair wooden windows.

Remarkably glue is used to repair cracks in broken slate - water does not flow.

As an example, I give this photo. This slate is already 40 years old. This one is no longer being produced. So, in case of damage, there is nothing to replace (the modern wave step is different).

In several places, I covered the cracks with homemade glue. And in one place, I even had to apply a patch ... and also on glue. This renovation was completed 5 years ago. Still holding up :)

As a reinforcement, in some places I used a bandage. I do not recommend using a plaster mesh - glue can dissolve it while it dries.

Storage

Store glue in an airtight container. Do not forget that the base is acetone and it tends to evaporate. The shelf life is practically unlimited. If it starts to solidify in the jar, just add acetone.

Price (cost)

And most importantly - the cost of such a reliable glue is determined only by the cost of a bottle of acetone. Linoleum can be used old.
