A sheet with an elastic band has an undeniable advantage over the usual sheet, to which we are accustomed. This is especially true when using modern mattresses.
Indeed, if you cover the mattress with an ordinary sheet, by morning the sheet will wrinkle, move, twist, and stray. Creases appear that cause discomfort ... And if you roll over from side to side many times in a dream, you can wake up already on a bare mattress.
There are three ways out of this situation:
- buy a sheet with an elastic band
- sew a sheet on an elastic band
- use the method below :)
First way
About 4 years ago, I already offered this solution on my YouTube channel. I will give a link to that video at the end of the article.
I then rested in Anapa in the "guest house". Service is the norm. However, I ran into one annoying thing...
The owner of the “guest house”, either out of economy or out of ignorance, provided all the rooms with ordinary sheets, which slipped off the mattress in the morning. In theory, it would be necessary to use sheets with an elastic band. But…
At my request to change the sheets from regular to fitted with an elastic band, the owner joked merrily. But the "sediment" remained. Therefore, I announce the name of the guest house: "MR"
In short, the issue remained unresolved.
On the second day, a bright idea came to my mind: to fix the sheet on the mattress in some way.
As a "fastener", I decided to use stationery clothespins (clips) and ... an ordinary rope.
I had a rope (I always take 3-4 meters of rope on the road ... it comes in handy in unforeseen situations). And I bought the clamps at the nearest stationery store (6 pieces per mattress).
A few minutes and this design was ready !!! I fastened the clamps to the edge of the sheet and tied them with a rope. I also tied the places where the ropes crossed. I don’t know why, but the “chuyka” suggested that it would be more reliable this way.
The original method of attaching the rope to the clamps involved attaching it to the back of shiny staples. But... After the first night, some of the clips flew off the sheets. More effective, it turned out to be attached to the spring (black) part of the clamp, as in the photo below.
At home, this system has been upgraded by replacing the rope with ... an elastic band. As practice has shown, the sheet is securely held on the mattress with the help of 6 clips. But ... no one forbids you to increase this number to 8, 10 ...
Second way
Today I offer an even simpler solution.
To do this, you just need 6 stationery clothespins.
Look at the photo below. Have you noticed how well the clothespin holds on to the corner edge? This is what we'll be using.
All you need to do is secure the sheet with a clothespin on the corner edge.
On each side of the mattress - 2 clothespins. For reliability, you can use 3 clothespins.
Do the same on the opposite side of the mattress.
One clothespin from the ends of the mattress (from the side of the legs and head).
VOILA!!! Now the sheet keeps not worse than the sheet on an elastic band!!!

Alas.
I can't get over this approach. From my point of view, the easiest way is the usual elastic band with crocodiles on both ends. The principle of men's suspenders. Attaches to the back of the mattress. One crocodile to one edge of the sheet, the other to the other. You need at least 4 such pairs. It holds perfectly, both straight sheets and those with an elastic band. By the way, the Chinese have been producing such holders for a long time, they just don’t order ours, because they don’t understand why. But it's so convenient.
Well, sorry, this is some kind of perversion .... I have a double bed, I buy sets that are called “family”, they have sheets with a width of 2 m. So, I insert an elastic band into the already hemmed (at the factory) edge. And voila!!! Only it is necessary to use not a pin, but a special one. fixture (sold, where sewing accessories). Simply and easily! This process took 30 minutes. Try it, keep it up!!!
