That's because what an opportunity happened to me yesterday!
He opened the lock in his workshop, but broke the key. The fragment remained in the larva, and in the hands of only the head of the key. I have a spare key ... But the key fragment must be removed from the lock.
In general, the procedure for extracting the fragment is not so complicated. Dealt with it quickly.
However, I had to use two methods.
For a long time I wanted to change this lock, so the reason happened ...
On the dismantled lock, now I’ll show everything. There is a short video at the end of the article.
So, I drive the chip back into the larva. Conditions are close to reality. Only the head of the key remains in the hands. However, we don't need it anymore...
Before starting any manipulation, make sure that the key hole is in a position where the key can be removed. In my case, it should be vertical.
When the lock was on the door - this method did not help me, I had to use the second method. But when I did all this for the article, it turned out amazingly.
In the simplest case, all you need is a needle. Depending on the design of your lock, a paper clip may also work. But the needle will be more effective.
The tip of the needle is driven into the space between the fragment of the key and the body of the larva.
As soon as you feel that the tip has caught on a chip, move the free end of the needle (eye) forward. It's like pulling a nail out with a nail puller...
As soon as the chip "crawled" out of the larva a couple of millimeters, you can use tweezers or pliers to continue extracting the rest of the key.
On "everything about everything" it took me less than a minute. The fragment has been removed.
But if the chip stubbornly refuses to come out, consider the second method (hereinafter).
To do this, you will need a drill and a thin drill bit. I had a millimeter drill.
Install the drill in the space between the debris and the body of the larva at an angle of 45 degrees.
Now your task is to drill into the key fragment, despite the damage that the drill will do to the outer part of the larva.
The main thing is to drill a chip.
Now insert the needle into the hole that the drill has made. And just like in the first method - pull out a piece of the key.
Further, the chip can be pulled out with your fingers.
