How to open a coconut

Coconut is not our product. Overseas. And therefore, there is nothing shameful in the fact that someone does not know how to properly crack a coconut.

And if you will be brought to a desert island ...? You need to know how to open a coconut correctly in order to drink juice and eat its pulp.

Well ... it's fixable. Now I will carefully open this tropical nut for you.

If something is not clear in the article, at the end of the story I will show it all in my YouTube video

So, here it is our experimental exhibit.

Let's get the juice out of it first

How to get juice out of a coconut

From the end of the coconut, we see 3 dark depressions.

We choose the depression that is closer to the center.

Using a thin knife or other improvised means, you need to dig a hole in this cavity.

I started with a knife, continued with a coffee spoon.

We open the inner cavity of the coconut with a hole.

Try to make the diameter of the hole larger, otherwise the juice will not pour out well.

If someone thinks that a coconut is full of juice…. Alas! It's only about 30 ml.

But it is very tasty: sweet and viscous.

Now the actual technology of opening a coconut ...

We need a more massive knife.

We put the nut in the left palm. We position the knife so that its blade is across the coconut. The sharp blade of the knife "looks" up, and the back side lies on the nut.

With a knife, you need to strike at the middle line of the nut, gradually turning it after each blow. There are three longitudinal lines (seals) along the nut. Blows must be applied between these lines.

Strikes and turns are performed in the following sequence: 3 strikes - turn.

After 15-20 seconds, the first transverse crack appeared in the coconut.

After performing a few more blows with twists, I noticed that the crack had spread along the entire diameter of the nut.

Now you can try to separate the coconut into two halves with your hands ...

And I did it!!!

The next step is to separate the pulp from the outer strong case. To do this, it is most convenient with a tablespoon.

If the pulp does not separate in a whole piece (like mine) ...

… break it into small pieces.

Bon appetit! And here is the promised video about everything that I just said:
