You have a need to crimp a twisted pair cable into RJ-45 (connector). Well, if you have a special tool - a crimper. And if you also know how to use it ...! Generally wonderful!
In this case, you can not read this article. Although ... What if you find yourself in a situation where the crimper is not at hand? This information will not be superfluous for professionals.
Agree, buying a crimper for one-time work is somehow unreasonable. The thing is not cheap, but you will use it ... a couple of times. Renting also does not work - no one has it. And to call a specially trained person, for the sake of such a petty job - "the toad strangles."
So we have collected all the reasons why you can and should crimp a twisted pair cable yourself (even if there is no crimper).
An easy way to crimp a network cable without special tools.
For this job you will need:
- flat screwdriver (working edge width - 3mm)
- sharp knife
- RJ-45 connector
Carefully remove the outer insulation of the cable with a knife.
Now you need to lay out the wires in the desired sequence. The simplest and most common switching method is direct crimping. It is used to connect a router, modem, TV, computer.
In accordance with this method, we will lay out the wires. In the figure below, the wiring order is circled in red.
Don't forget to cut off any excess wire.
Turn the RJ-45 connector so that the metal contact plates “look” at you and the latch is at the bottom.
Carefully insert the wires - each into its own channel.
Make sure the wires are all the way in.
Last time check the correct layout of the wires by color.
Place a screwdriver on the contact plate and lightly hit the handle with something not very heavy. For example, I used pliers as a percussion tool.
Subject each contact to this procedure. Hit the screwdriver gently and carefully - so as not to break the connector.
All contacts should fall into their grooves, 1mm below the separating plastic jumper.
When the work on the contacts is over - lightly press / hit this lock (to firmly fix the cable sheath)
The work is over, the cable is tested. There is a connection. Speed - in accordance with my tariff (50Mbps)
