DIY artificial fireplace

DIY artificial fireplace

The good thing is the fireplace. Especially if it is real and firewood crackles in it, and you are sitting in front of it with a mug of aromatic coffee and you are not worried about frost and blizzard on the street.

Well, it's so ... fantasy.

But the reality is that not everyone can afford such a piece of furniture. But if the desire is strong, and the hands grow straight and skillful, then on the eve of the New Year and Christmas, you can make an artificial one.

Here is my example. To be honest, I didn't. My wife did it, and I just took pictures :)

So, cardboard boxes served as material for the fireplace. Where to get them? Yes, in any grocery store at the end of the working day there are a lot of them!

To maintain symmetry, it is advisable to choose boxes of the same size for the left and right sides.

We glued the boxes together with PVA glue. Therefore, after mounting each box, I had to wait for the glue to dry.

To make the surface of the top of the fireplace flat, one of the boxes had to be disassembled. Sheet cardboard was laid here.

For reliable gluing, the cardboard was pressed down with books :)

This is how the vault of the firebox was made.

When the frame was ready, it remained only to paste over it with wallpaper with a brickwork pattern.

Pay attention to the grid. It's also made of paper! Take a sheet of A4 paper and twist it into a tube. Roll tightly. The last layer is impregnated with glue and after drying, paint with black paint. Well, among themselves, each twig is also glued with glue.

In order to add volume to the front panel, “bricks” were cut out of the wallpaper and pasted onto cardboard. These false bricks formed a vault and decorated the corners of the fireplace.

Foil was fixed on the back of the firebox. For what? And to reflect the light of candles! Because they put real firewood in the firebox and lit candles fixed on these very firewood!

Candles, of course, are dangerous to use, and a fire can happen. Therefore, we plan to place artificial candles in the firebox.
